French newspaper Sud Ouest has suggested that Bordeaux are considering making a move for West Ham striker Modibo Maiga.
Les Girodins are searching for a new attacker after Yoan Gouffran finalized his switch to Newcastle and they are hoping to lure the former Sochaux forward.
Bordeaux boss Francois Gillot, who had a very good relationship with the player during his time at Sochaux, hopes to sign Maiga on loan until the end of the season.
The Malian joined West Ham last summer, but has since started just 2 Premier League fixtures for the Hammers.
He is hoping to leave Boleyn Ground in the January transfer window, and it is highly unlikely West Ham boss Sam Allardyce will stand in his way after boosting his attacking options with Joe Cole and Marouane Chamakh.
Maiga would probably relish the opportunity to return to French Ligue 1, where he has played his best football up to date.
