French Ligue 1 side Bordeaux have all but confirmed the arrival of striker Yaya Sanogo from Arsenal Football Club.
Les Girondins were looking to sign a new striker as a cover for Cheick Diabate, who is away on Africa Cup of Nations duty, and they were thought to have made a move on the Gunners starlet.
And just few days after Arsene Wenger had admitted that Sanogo might be farmed out on loan in January, Bordeaux have suggested they have won the race for the forward’s signature.
“We are working on the arrival of Sanogo. He wants to come to us, it’s a certainty,” les Girondins chairman Jean-Louis Triaud confessed to Soir de Foot radio.
Yaya Sanogo joined Arsenal from Auxerre last summer after impressing for France at the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey, and he has since shown a great deal of potential.
The 21-year-old has so far made 11 Premier League appearances, starting just two of those games and no doubt a loan move to Bordeaux would be beneficial for his career and chances of nailing down a regular starting berth at the Emirates.
