According to a recent report from L’Equipe, French club Bordeaux have made an enquiry regarding the possibility of signing Olivier Giroud from Chelsea. The Frenchman has failed to really find any kind of consistency at Stamford Bridge following his move from Arsenal, where he was viewed as one of the most underrated forwards in European football. Giroud played his part in helping France to win the 2018 FIFA World Cup last summer, but since then, he hasn’t been able to re-discover his old form. Giroud’s current deal with Chelsea is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, although Chelsea do have an option to extend it by twelve months.
A return to Ligue 1 for the final few years of his time at the top of his game would certainly be a realistic prospect, and it’d probably be a smart one too. Giroud is still a high level striker and could probably do a solid job for Bordeaux on a week to week basis.
