(GSM) – Lyon have signaled their intent of acquiring the services of Bordeaux midfielder Yoann Gourcuff as Bernard Lacombe admitted his interest in bringing the playmaker to Stade Gerland.
The France international, who has entered into his first year of four year contract, made his mark in Ligue 1, following a loan spell for Bordeaux from Milan in 2008-09 campaign.
Gourcuff was named the French player of the year after guiding les Girondins to their sixth Ligue 1 title.
After signing for Bordeaux in 2009-10, the player endured a difficult season which was blighted by injuries.
And Lacombe, who is special advisor at Lyon, claims he has been reliably informed that the 23-year-old wants to join Les Gones.
However, Lyon are likely to face stiff competition from their Ligue 1 rivals with new Bordeaux coach Jean Tigana insisting Gourcuff is very much part of his plans.
Lacombe told L’Equipe: “He (Gourcuff) wants to come to us. I know it. He hasn’t told me directly but people have told me so. We have to find a common ground with Bordeaux.
“It will be difficult. Unless there is a huge offer from us, Jean Tigana will do what it takes to keep him. But there is a chance. If there is a chance, why shouldn’t we seize it?”
