Italian newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport has learned that Sunderland are set to complete the signing of Italian forward Fabio Borini from Liverpool.
Lazio were also interested in signing the 22-year-old footballer, but he seems to have opted to join the Black Cats instead.
Despite Brendan Rodgers denying Borini was available for loan, the Reds have decided to accept an offer from Sunderland after they completed the loan signing of Victor Moses from Chelsea.
The fact that the Italian hadn’t made a single appearance for the Reds this season certainly played a part in the process.
Fabio Borini arrived at Anfield last summer in a big money move from Roma, having scored 8 goals in 29 Serie A appearances for the Giallorossi the previous season.
He has, however, largely struggled to prove his worth at Liverpool, scoring just 1 goal in 13 Premier League matches, while netting once in six Europa League fixtures.
