Middlesbrough striker Jeremie Aliadiere will be sidelined for up to eight weeks as result of damaged ankle ligaments. The player suffered the injury in last weekend’s FA Cup clash with Barrow.
A challenge from Barrow’s Phil McNulty in the 32nd minute ended with the Frenchman being stretchered off the pitch.
Boro manager Gareth Southgate told the club’s official website that the player has been ordered to rest for two weeks, followed by a recovery that could take four to six weeks.
“Immediately after the game we were upbeat because there was no break, but unfortunately he’s going to be missing for a while,” Southgate said.
The 25-year-old forward scored two goals in 19 appearances this season.
