Tottenham Hotspur are interested in taking Roma striker Marco Borriello to White Hart Lane, the player’s official representative has revealed.
The experienced striker was expected to leave Stadio Olimpico in the summer, but he eventually failed to engineer a move away from the club.
And while Borriello has in turn made 11 Serie A appearances for the Giallorossi, the return into action of Francesco Totti and Mattia Destro has seriously damaged his chances of regular playing time.
“Marco is very happy in Rome and with Roma, but clearly the recovery of Francesco Totti and Mattia Destro from injury is reducing his space and he’d like to play more,” agent Carlo Cavalleri told Sky Sport Italia.
He then moved to suggest that Premier League side Tottenham are one of the clubs keen on his client.
“His profile is very much appreciated in England, as they are looking for players like this. Being here in London I had the chance to talk to various clubs. Tottenham? Yes, they were among them.
“For the moment he is happy at Roma, then we’ll see what happens over the next few days.”
Marco Borriello is already used to changing clubs season after season as the much travelled striker has featured for a plethora of Italian sides despite being only owned by Milan and Roma.
Last year’s spell at Genoa proved very successful for the 31-year-old seeing as how he scored 12 goals in 28 league matches.
