With Bayern Munich so famously struggling of late, Borussia Dortmund will be looking to extend their advantage at the top of the Bundesliga table when they travel to Stuttgart on Saturday.

Starting with the hosts, despite only missing out on European football by one place last season, things could not be going worse for Stuttgart at the start of the new Bundesliga campaign. Coming off the back of a very poor showing in their 3-1 loss to Hannover before the international break, Markus Weinzierl’s men have recorded just one win this season and their goal difference sees them sat bottom of the table. It will be their defensive record at the start of the season that will be giving Weinzieri the biggest headache. Stuttgart’s 13 goals conceded means they now hold the second worst defensive record in the Bundesliga.

As for the visitors, with Bayern Munich drastically short of form, Dortmund have seen this as a brilliant opportunity and now sit top of the table. Enjoying his first full season in charge, Lucien Favre’s men now sit three points clear of RB Leipzig. Picking up a 4-3 win away Augsburg before the international break, the Yellow and Blacks are yet to be beaten in any competition so far this season. One man to watch for the visitors will be Barcelona loanee Paco Alcaer. Scoring against England in midweek, the striker currently holds the best minute to goal ratio in Europe. The 25-year-old now has nine in his last five for club and country.
