Scottish defender currently plying trade at Hamburg, David Bates, has attracted plenty of attention from Europe’s biggest football clubs.
The 22-year-old only joined the Bundesliga 2 side this summer from Rangers but wasted no time in proving his worth and gaining admiring glances from a host of Premier League clubs including Southampton, Everton, Watford, Leicester City and Arsenal.
Reports in Germany, however, claim that two biggest Bundesliga clubs – Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich – have joined the pack.
Bates is by no means a household name in European football but his potential has not been unnoticed following a string of eye-catching performances in the second tier of Germany football.
The Scott moved to Hamburg on a free transfer after failing to agree a contract extension with Rangers and went on to make eight Bundesliga 2 appearances this season.
Hamburg managed to keep a clean sheet in seven of those matches he was standing in the heart of the defence.
