Werder Bremen forward Max Kruse has emerged as the top transfer target for Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund, German outlet Bild can reveal.
The 29-year-old Werder star has enjoyed a prolific season with his club, scoring 15 Bundesliga goals in 23 league starts.
Kruse is regarded as one of the most valuable players at Werder Bremen and Die Werderaner are keen to hold on to him for as long as possible despite increased interest from all over the globe.
Werder Bremen star received a lucrative offer worth €15 million per season from an unnamed Chinese club, but Kruse rejected the possibility of moving to China. He is thought to be keen to remain at Werder and would only consider leaving his club for a high-profile side that could offer Champions League football.
Borussia Dortmund fits the bill perfectly and Kruse’s reported €15 million release clause would not be a problem for the Bundesliga giants, who are in the market for a striker as they are preparing for life without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Bundesliga top scorer has long been linked with a move away from Westfalenstadion and the forthcoming summer market could very well see him pack his bags.
