Borussia Moenchengladbach are doing their best to extend the contract of their star player Dante amidst speculations that the Brazilian is followed by Bayern Munich.
Star players Marco Reus and Roman Neustadter have already agreed to join Borussia Dortmund respectively, and Gladbach chiefs are determined to avoid similar scenario with Dante.
The Brazilian is considered a key part of Lucien Favre’s line-up and as soon as it was reported that Bayern are interested in his services, the club chiefs have decided to act.
Borussia M’gladbach sporting director Max Eberl is confident the club will be able to hold on to their prized asset.
“I can report from our talks with Dante and his advisors and we have been in close contact for a long time now,” Eberl said to Kicker.
“We want to extend Dante’s contract and we are heading in the right direction to achieve something big and therefore be able to offer Dante sporting potential. Dante is an important player in our side.”
Borussia M’gladbach are enjoying one of the most successful seasons in their history and currently occupy the second place in the Bundesliga standings.
The Brazilian defender is part of the best defence in the top flight, seeing that die Fohlen conceded just 13 goals in 22 Bundesliga games.
