Borussia Monchengladbach got the better of Borussia Dortmund 4-2 at home in the Bundesliga on Friday evening.

Dortmund headed into the match at Borussia-Park as favourites, but it was hosts Monchengladbach who picked up all three points from the encounter.

Jonas Hofmann put Monchengladbach in the lead after four minutes before Julian Brandt made it 1-1 with his goal for Dortmund.

Ramy Bensebaini and Marcus Thuram scored in quick succession to make it 3-1.

Nico Schlotterbeck found the back of the net for Dortmund on 40 minutes.

Kouadio Kone made it 4-2 to home team in the opening minute of the second half.

And it stayed that way until full time.

The result means that Dortmund are now sixth in the Bundesliga table with 25 points from 15 matches, as many as nine points behind leaders and defending champions Bayern Munich, who have played 14 games.

Meanwhile, Monchengladbach currently find themselves eighth in the standings with 22 points from 15 games.

This is what we learned from the Bundesliga match between Borussia Monchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund at Borussia-Park on Friday evening.

Borussia Dortmund out of Bundesliga till race

That Borussia Dortmund are nine points behind leaders and defending champions Bayern Munich suggests that they are out of the Bundesliga title race this season. It is hard to see Bayern lose as many as three league games this season.

Even if the Bavarian giants do drop points, Dortmund are unlikely to be winning the rest of their league games this season when they have already lose six out of 15 they have played. Dortmund are now 35/1 on 19/1 to win the league title in Germany this campaign.

Borussia Dortmund need to score more and defend better

Borussia Dortmund have scored 25 goals and conceded 21 goals in 15 Bundesliga matches so far this season. That is simply not good.

Edin Terzic’s need to score more and conceded fewer goals. Bayern, who are top, have scored 49 goals. And they have shipped in just 13. That is the kind of standards that Dortmund need to aspire to.

Borussia Monchengladbach will finish in mid-table again

Borussia Monchengladbach are a stable and established club in the Bundesliga, and it looks like that they are going to have another ‘safe’ and decent Eason. Die Fohlen ended up 10th in the league table last season, and they could finish higher this time around.
