(GSM) – Botafogo remain in third place in the Brazilian Serie A following a 2-0 win over Sao Paulo, while Cruzeiro beat Avai 1-2 to defend their fourth spot.
Botafogo, who had already played on Friday as well, had no time to rest as they continued their defense of the third position.
Against Sao Paulo, Sebastian Abreu scored the opener in the 67th minute. Another 13 minutes later, Edno netted the second for a 2-0 final result.
Cruzeiro played away to Avai and goals from Roger (penalty) and Thiago Ribeiro were enough to secure the victory. Only Laercio Carrerinha scored for the home team.
Botafogo share the third place with Cruzeiro, but have a better goal record.
