Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals at Eintracht Frankfurt vs Shakhtar Donetsk 20/21 for Thursday’s Europa League clash

Competition: Europa League

Market: Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals

Odds: 20/21 @ Bet 365

Playing out a 2-2 draw in Ukraine last week, Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt will host Shakhtar Donetsk at the Commerzbank-Arena on Thursday night.

Starting with the hosts, coming off the back of a 1-1 draw with Borussia Mönchengladbach over the weekend, Eintracht Frankfurt have remarkably now drawn their last five matches on the bounce. While Adi Hütter’s side still remain firmly in the top-six race in the Bundesliga, there have been some ongoing defensive issues that do need resolving. The Reds have now recorded just one clean sheet in their last 16 outings, a run that stems all the way back to the end of November. Although Hütter will be concerned by Frankfurt’s form at the back, they do have the Europa League’s leading goalscorer in their ranks. Highly-touted striker Luka Jovic has five goals to his name already in Europe.

As for the visitors, managing to pick up a 2-2 draw with Frankfurt despite playing the majority of the match with 10 men last week, the mood in Shakhtar’s camp should be on a high. Now holding a seven-point buffer at the top of the Ukrainian Premier League table, Paulo Fonseca’s side hold a very impressive record in Europe, particularly on the road. Thursday’s visitors have won their last five European matches away from Dounbass Arena and have scored 10 goals in just their last three outings. Given both sides very impressive showings in the final third, we’re backing a lively encounter in midweek.
