Two Italian giants who have their sights set on securing a Champions League return for next season, Napoli will host Lazio from behind closed doors on Thursday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Napoli might have been disappointed to have thrown away the lead against soon-to-be Serie A champions Inter Milan last weekend, The Light Blues have impressed many on either side of the international break. Knowing that victory on Thursday can see them break into the top-four, Head Coach Gennaro Gattuso has been full of praise for his side since their Europe League departure back in February. With just a single win across any format in any of their previous 10 matchups, the former AC Milan boss will be hugely excited by his squad’s continued performances at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Including that 1-1 draw against the runaway leaders last time out, Napoli are unbeaten on home soil since way back on January 6th.

As for the visitors, while Lazio might have seen Bayern Munich end their Champions League adventure last month, The Eagles are enjoying a real domestic purple patch. Another side who have their sights set on securing a spot at Europe’s premier tournament for next season, I Biancocelesti have won each of their last five Serie A contests on the spin. Last seen over the weekend when eventually landing an action-packed 5-3 win against Benevento, it’s worth highlighting that Lazio’s last five domestic wins have produced 17 goals. Looking to lay down a marker on their travels this week, it’s well worth keeping an eye out for leading marksman, Ciro Immobile. Bagging himself a brace against Benevento on Sunday, the Italian international has racked up 16 top-flight goals so far this season.
