Competition: A-League
Market: Both teams to score

Two sides who are desperate to secure a spot in the Final Series this summer, Adelaide and Perth will face off at the Bankwest Stadium in Sydney on Thursday morning.
Starting with Thursday’s temporary hosts, although on paper it might show that Adelaide have recorded four points in their two A-League appearances since the restart, it doesn’t tell the full story. Throwing away the lead against Wellington over the weekend, the Reds were also extremely lucky to have snatched a flattering three points against Brisbane last week. Holding just a single point buffer from slipping out of the top-six, there is no doubt that Head Coach Carl Veart will have a growing headache over his side’s issues at the back. Watching Brisbane have nine shots on target on their travels last week, Adelaide entered the enforced break with back-to-back 3-0 and 5-1 drummings against Western United and Newcastle. It is also worth highlighting that only a rock-bottom Central Coast have shipped more than Adelaide’s 43 goals this season.
As for the visitors, putting in another torrid display last week and watching Wellington pick up a deserved 2-1 win, Perth have drastically failed to match a similar level that helped them lift the A-League title last season. Really struggling to find their feet since opening 2020, the former champions have also gained a reputation for their issues at the back either side of football’s enforced break. Along with suffering a 3-2 defeat at home against Melbourne City prior to the interruption, Head Coach Tony Popovic has seen his side now ship at least a pair of strikes in six of their last eight appearances. Also in a real battle if they’re to secure a top-six finish this summer, we should be in for a lively contest in Sydney this week. With the last two meetings between the two sides producing 10 goals and a string of chances, we’re backing both teams to find the net in midweek.
