It’s do or die for Arsenal in the Europa League as they must better Atletico Madrid to avoid ending Arsene Wenger’s 22-year reign with a whimper.

With Barcelona now being crowned as the La Liga champions for another season, while Diego Simeone’s Red and Whites do hold a four-point advantage over bitter rivals Real, Atletico will know that nothing less than the Europa League title will be a successful campaign. After leaving the Emirates with a crucial away goal in their 1-1 draw in North London last week, although they may have played 80 minutes with 10 men and had their Argentinian boss sent to the stands, Atletico will enter Thursday’s second leg as an overwhelming favorite. For the Red and Whites, the man to watch is French international forward Antoine Griezmann, the 27-year-old scored last week and now has 24 for the season in all competitions.

With his 22-year reign in the Arsenal dugout coming to an end, many can argue that this could be the biggest game in Arsene Wenger’s tenure in North London. Coming off the back of a 2-1 loss at Old Trafford last weekend, while Arsenal did embark on a six-match winning run last month, the Gunners have now picked up just one win in their last five and their defensive issues have begun to show once again. Failing to keep a clean sheet in their last seven appearances in all competitions, Wenger’s side will also travel to Spain knowing that Atletico Madrid haven’t lost a home game since a January defeat to Sevilla in the Copa del Rey.
