Looking to finish off the job in midweek, Manchester City will make the trip out to rural Germany when they face off against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, after being left heartbroken thanks to their controversial 2-1 defeat at The Etihad last week, Borussia Dortmund know that they’re in a real uphill battle to extend on their Champions League adventure. Showing a host of issues on either side of the international break, interim boss Edin Terzić saw his side just about manage to make a return to winning ways over the weekend. Eventually picking up what was the most dramatic of turnaround 3-2 wins away at Stuttgart, BVB have gained a reputation for their extended problems at the back. While attacking MVP Erling Haaland might be continuing to steal most of the headlines around rural Germany, Dortmund have recorded just a single clean sheet in any of their last seven matchups across all formats. it should also be highlighted that Wednesday’s hosts have seen six of their last seven home contests finish with both teams finding the net.

As for the visitors, while Manchester City might have managed to grab that hard-fought 2-1 win against Dortmund on home soil last week, The Sky Blues were unable to keep up that momentum over the weekend. Coming up against a Leeds side that had to play the majority of their meeting at The Etihad with 10-men, Pep Guardiola’s side were hit with a stunning last-gasp 2-1 defeat. Despite showing some issues at the back over the past week, the Premier League giants have enjoyed an extended purple patch on the road. Including back-to-back victories away at Leicester and Everton, the former Bayern Munich boss has seen his side win each of their last 15 straight matchups away from The Etihad, a run that stems back to December 12th. In a contest that could prove to be another lively affair on Wednesday night, we’re backing both teams to find the net in rural Germany.
