Both teams to score at Cardiff vs Derby 1/1 for Tuesday’s Championship matchup

Competition: Championship

Market: Both teams to score

Odds: 1/1 @ 888sport

With the chance to potentially break into the play-off spots in midweek, Cardiff will host Derby from behind closed doors on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Cardiff would have been left hugely disappointed to have seen Middlebrough snatch a late point over the weekend, the Blues have made a string of improvements since bringing in new boss Mick McCarthy. Enjoying what has comfortably been their brightest run of the season so far, they have suddenly transformed into a genuine play-off contender. Opening the midweek fixtures sat just two points adrift of finding a route into the top-six, the former Ireland manager finds his side enjoying a nine-match Championship unbeaten run, a run that stems all the way back to January 20th. In fact, remarkably winning six of their last seven second-tier contests and with the mood in their camp likely to still be at a real high, they have also impressed with their recent displays on home soil. Bagging seven goals in back-to-back home victories against Preston and Coventry, Cardiff should be confident of making an immediate return to winning ways.

As for the visitors, coming from behind and grabbing a late point at home against rivals Nottingham Forest on Friday night, the Rams would have been disappointed to have not left with more to show for their efforts. Creating a string of chances at Pride Park, the Whites have still managed to make a string of eye-catching improvements since appointing Wayne Rooney on a permanent basis back in January. While some may have been shocked to see the former England skipper take his first managerial role, Derby have really played themselves away from the drop zone. With leading marksman Colin Kazim-Richards making a return to goalscoring ways last time out, Tuesday’s guests make the trip to Wales this week holding a nine-point buffer over the drop zone. Bouncing back from that 2-1 defeat against top-two contenders Watford last month, we’re expecting what should be a lively contest in Cardiff.
