In a battle between two sides who find themselves in the midst of a real purple patch, Ceara will host Fortaleza from behind closed doors late on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, despite another worrying start to the new Serie A campaign and many feeling that they could be destined for another relegation scrap this time around, Ceara have certainly managed to bounce back in some style. Also coming past second-tier Vitoria in the Copa do Nordeste last month thanks to what was a dramatic 4-3 victory on the road, Head Coach Guto Ferreira finds his side in the midst of a three-match winning run and really showing a new-found clinical edge in the final third. Breezing past Bahia thanks to a 2-0 win last time out on home soil, Ceara will be confident of cashing in on Wednesday night.

As for the visitors, continuing on their bright end to last year’s interrupted campaign, Fortaleza have really laid down a marker this time around and have their sights set on another Copa Libertadores finish. Once again impressing in what turned out to be a 3-0 romp against RB Bragantino last weekend, Rogério Ceni’s men are unbeaten in their last four Serie A appearances and much like Wednesday’s hosts, they too are enjoying a free-scoring run in the final third.
