Desperate to put last weeks UEFA Nations League defeat behind them, Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions will welcome Switzerland to Wembley for an international friendly on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, although England may have equaled their best finish on foreign shores out in Russia, England have struggled since extra time defeat to Croatia in the semi-finals. Now coming off the back of a 2-1 loss at home to a Spain side short of form, while Marcus Rashford may have given the Three Lions the lead, the Manchester United youngster missed a string of opportunities and England slumped to their third defeat on the bounce. While this summers top scorer Harry Kane has already opened his Premier League account, Southgate’s side have now only managed to record two clean sheets in their last 11 outings.

As for the visitors, while Switzerland may have been knocked out at the hands of Sweden in the round of 16, The Reds did enjoy another successful summer under Vladimir Petković. Going unbeaten in their three group matches and also taking a point off of Brazil, Switzerland are coming off the back of a very eye-catching performance in their 6-0 win over fellow World Cup finalists Iceland. Also losing just one of their 10 qualifying matches, The Reds have now found the net in 21 of their last 23 matches in all competitions. With the likes of Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri finding the net last week, Switzerland could offer Southgate some more problems.
