Two nations looking to gain some momentum heading into the summer, Germany will face off against Denmark at the Tivoli Stadion Tirol in Austria on Wednesday night.

Starting with Germany, while they might have thought they had managed to turn a real corner when opening their World Cup qualifying campaign with back-to-back wins against Iceland and Romania, the former World Champions came crashing back down to earth back in March. With it confirmed that Head Coach Joachim Löw will stand down after this summer’s European Championships, The Whites were last seen getting hit with a dreadful 2-1 defeat at home against North Macedonia, a result that underlined their continued issues over the past year. Really struggling to bounce back from that infamous 6-0 drumming at the hands of Spain when drawing an end to their Nations League run, Germany have also gained a reputation for their issues at the back. Including 3-3 draws against Turkey and Switzerland last year, Wednesday’s hosts have recorded just three clean sheets in their last 12 matchups across all formats.

As for The Danes, last seen laying down what was a clinical marker back in March, Denmark have only continued on what has been quite the purple patch. With the mood in their camp at a real high heading into this summer’s European Championships, Kasper Hjulmand’s side have opened their World Cup qualifying campaign with three wins on the bounce. Breezing past Israel and a remarkable 8-0 victory against Moldova, The Danes were also last seen landing a stunning 4-0 romp against Austria on foreign soil, a result that impressed many across Europe. Bouncing back from their resilient display in that 4-2 defeat against Belgium back in November, Denmark have continued to gain a reputation for their clinical edge in the final third. Smelling a real chance to cause an upset, don’t be surprised to see a lively outcome in midweek.
