Looking to break back into the top half of the table, a high-flying Augsburg will make the trip to the PreZero Arena on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Hoffenheim’s bright start to the season may have seen Alfred Schreuder’s men flirting with the European positions, they have since come crashing back down to earth. Hit with a 3-1 defeat against RB Leipzig last weekend, they have failed to win any of their last three contests, a run that also saw them ship five against Mainz on home soil last month. While Hoffenheim may have continued to shine in the final third and now found the net in each of their last nine matches on the bounce, it is no surprise that their problems at the back will be giving Schreuder the biggest headache. Shipping nine goals on their winless run, the hosts have recorded just a single Bundesliga clean sheet since the middle of October.

As for the visitors, picking up a 2-1 win at home against Mainz last weekend, few in Germany would have expected Augsburg’s recent resurge. Unbeaten in their last four Bundesliga appearances and winning three of those contests, Martin Schmidt’s men also really caught the eye in their thumping 4-0 victory over Hertha Berlin last month. Another victory on Friday night will see them break into the top half of the standings. Also losing just a single matchup on the road since the 1st of September, their trip to the PreZero Arena could prove to be yet another lively encounter.
