With a spot in the semi-final of this year’s Copa Italia up for grabs in midweek, Inter Milan will welcome Fironetina to the San Siro on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, after watching a struggling Cagliari snatch a late equalizer at the San Siro over the weekend, Inter Milan have begun to show some signs of a blip, even if they are in the midst of a 15-match domestic unbeaten run. Watching Juventus reclaim their spot at the top of the Serie A standings, new boss Antonio Conte has seen his men draw three of their last four contests and will have some concerns over his side’s recent issues at the back. While the attacking duo of Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martínez might be continuing to shine in the final third, I Nerazzurri have failed to record a single clean sheet in any of their last five matches on the bounce.

As for the visitors, while Fironetina may have been disappointed to have only played out a 0-0 stalemate against Genoa on Saturday evening, the Purples have made a string of improvements since opening the New Year. Including picking up back-to-back victories over Champions League outfits Napoli and Atalanta, new boss Giuseppe Iachini finds his side in the midst of a five-match unbeaten run and the mood in their camp appears to be on the rise. Picking up a deserved 1-1 draw when they faced off against Inter Milan on Serie A duties last month, there is no doubt that La Viola will make the trip to the San Siro confident of pulling off an upset in midweek.
