Desperate to mount a late charge up the Western Conference, Vancouver will make the trip to the Stade Saputo in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Starting with the hosts, coming off the back of another lackluster display in their 2-1 loss away at Toronto over the weekend, Montreal have continued on a very worrying run of form. Unable to build off of their 4-0 victory over Philadelphia last month, Wílmer Cabrera’s men have failed to win any of their four matches in August, losing three of those contests. It will undoubtedly be their defensive issues that will be worrying fans around the Stade Saputo. Now shipping 14 goals on their four-match winless run, including shipping six against Colorado earlier in the month, they have also recorded just a single win in Quebec since the end of June.

As for the visitors, while a bright start to August may have boosted the mood in Vancouver, Marc Dos Santos’ side came crashing back down to earth last weekend. Suffering a 3-1 loss away at San Jose and still sat at the foot of the Western Conference, a huge part of their struggles has been their form on the road. Handed back-to-back defeats away from the BC Place Stadium, the Whitecaps have recorded just a single win on the road since the 4th of May. With both sides struggling with some glaring defensive issues, we’re backing a lively encounter on Thursday morning.
