Two sides who find themselves enjoying a real purple patch, Montreal will welcome Nashville to the Saputo Stadium in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Starting with the hosts, while Montreal would have been disappointed to have signed off August with back-to-back draws, Wilfried Nancy’s side have continued to impress many across America this season. Sat in pole position to secure themselves a Final Series spot this year, the Quebec-based outfit were last seen putting in another eye-catching display. Storming their way to a thumping 3-1 win against Toronto on home soil, the Blacks have lost just one of their last six MLS contests, a run that stems back to August 1st. Looking to try and widen their buffer in the top-seven this weekend, Montreal should also be boosted by their continued success at the Saputo Stadium. Including that stunning 5-4 win against Cincinnati back on July 18th, Sunday’s hosts have collected 16 points from just their last six MLS matchups in front of their own supporters.
As for the visitors, while many thought that Nashville might face a stern test on home soil last weekend against New York, the Yellows laid down another marker. Putting on a rampant display as they stormed their way to a 3-1 win at the Nissan Stadium, Gary Smith’s side appear to be cruising their way to another Final Series spot. Mustering 10 points from just their last four MLS contests, a run that is also highlighted by an action-packed 5-2 win against D.C. United, they have really bounced back from last month’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Inter Miami. Now on a remarkable run of form that has seen them lose just one of their last 14 straight contests, a run that stems back to June 19th, don’t be surprised to see chances come thick and fast here.
