After coming away with three point and bragging rights in last weeks Hodson River derby, Domènec Torrent’s New York City side will play host to a revitalized Montreal Impact on Thursday night.
For Torrent’s side, the former Manchester City coach could not have asked for a better start to life at Yankee Stadium as his new Sky Blues bet bitter rivals New York Red Bulls 1-0 last weekend. While they may be without top scorer David Villa, New York have continued to shine in the final third. Now finding the net in all bar one of their last 10 outings, New York have not lost their last nine matches at the Yankee Stadium, a run that stems back to February.
As for former Aston Villa boss Rémi Garde, although it was looking like another difficult year for Montreal, The Blues have battled back and are confident of landing a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Coming off the back of a 2-1 win over Colorado Rapids last weekend, The Impact are on a four-match winning run and have scored nine times in those four victories. Garde will be looking for forward Ignacio Piatti to carry on his own impressive form in the final third. The 33-year-old now has nine goals already this season and has also netted four in his last four for The Impact.
