Two sides who have their sights set on clinching a Final Series spot this year, New York RB will welcome Philadelphia to the Red Bull Arena in the early hours of Friday morning.
Starting with the hosts, while New York might have been left heartbroken by that action-packed 3-2 defeat against the New England Revs last month, Gerhard Struber’s side have bounced back in an eye-catching fashion. Despite making the trip to a high-flying Orlando earlier in the week tipped as a real outsider, the former Barnsley boss saw his side pick up an eye-catching 2-1 win away at The Purples. With the mood in their camp likely to be at a real high and looking to widen their buffer in the Final Series Spots, The Red Bulls should also be boosted by what has become a hugely impressive record on home soil. Returning home for the first time in three weeks, Friday’s hosts have won each of their last four straight contests at The Red Bull Arena, bagging a pair of strikes in each of those four wins.
As for the visitors, while Philadelphia might have enjoyed a stellar run of form before heading into the international break, The Union have shown some signs of a struggle recently. Hit with what was a shock defeat away at Nashville last time out, Jim Curtin’s side have really lost some ground in the Eastern Conference title chase. With just a single win from their last four matchups, the defending MLS champions have shown some recent problems on the road. Including back-to-back 2-2 and 3-3 draws against Atlanta United and Chicago Fire, Philadelphia have failed to win any of their last three matchups away from Subaru Park. In a battle between two sides who will be smelling a chance to claim maximum points, we’re backing both teams to find the net in the early hours of Friday morning.
