Looking to pull off what would be a mild upset on their travels in midweek, Newport will travel to League One outfit Plymouth on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, managing to pick up what was a very impressive win against fellow League One play-off chasers Charlton in the FA Cup over the weekend, Plymouth have bounced back after what was an inconsistent start to the New Year. Sat within striking distance of finding a route back into the top-six, the Greens find themselves in the midst of a three-match winning run across all competitions. With a real reputation for their continued performances on home soil, including a thumping 4-2 win against Swindon earlier in the month, Tuesday’s hosts have won each of their last four matchups at Home Park and they also have one leading marksman enjoying a real purple patch. Bagging the winner against Charlton over the weekend, 20-year-old Luke Jephcott has found the net in his last three appearances on the spin, scoring four goals.

As for the visitors, making a return to winning ways and continuing on their FA Cup adventure thanks to a 2-1 win away at Leyton Orient over the weekend, Newport still find themselves seen as a landslide pick to top League Two this season. Holding a two-point buffer at the top of the table and looking to pick up what would be a mild upset when they travel to Home Park in midweek, Michael Flynn’s men have impressed with their continued displays in the final third. Holding the second-best attacking record in England’s fourth-tier, Newport have now bagged at least a pair of strikes in each of their previous five appearances on the bounce. In a contest that could prove to be a lively meeting in midweek, we’re backing both teams to find the net.
