Both teams to score at Reading vs Wigan Athletic 5/6 for Wednesday’s Championship matchup

Competition: Championship

Market: Both teams to score

Odds: 5/6 @ Bet 365

Knowing that three points on Wednesday could see them find a route out of the drop zone, Wigan will make the trip to the Madejski in midweek.

Starting with the hosts, while Reading may have shocked many with their thumping 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the month, the Royals did come crashing back down to earth despite a gritty display at Elland Road last weekend. Recording just a single Championship victory since New Year’s Day, there is no doubt that Head Coach Mark Bowen will be most concerned by his side’s continued issues on home soil. While fans around the Madejski may have seen their side find the net in all bar one of their last 13 Championship home matches, Reading are yet to record a single victory in front of their own supporters since Boxing Day.

As for the visitors, putting in a rugged display and snatching three points off of Millwall over the weekend, Wigan have begun the show some much-needed signs of life. Along with playing out back-to-back 2-2 draws against Cardiff and Middlesbrough, the Latics should also be boosted by what was a stunning 1-0 win away at title contenders Leeds. While fans around the DW will be desperate for their side to find some much-needed stability at the back, Paul Cook will be impressed by his side’s resilience on the road. Including that shock victory at Elland Road three weeks ago, Wigan have lost just one of their last four Championship appearances away from the DW.
