World Cup hosts Russia will battle it out with Uruguay for top spot in Group A on Monday. With both sides winning their opening games against Egypt and Saudi Arabia, the two nations are already through to the last 16 and now fighting to see who tops the group.

Well, for this summers World Cup hosts, Russia have arguably transformed into one of the tournaments most eye-catching sides. Despite being billed as the worst Russian team in history, Stanislav Cherchesov’s Red’s now sit atop of Group A with a hefty five-goal advantage over their opponents on Monday. Coming off the back of a 3-1 win over Egypt that saw them gain a spot in the last 16, despite not winning any of their seven warm-up matches, along with their 3-1 win last week, Russia have now scored seven goals in their two World Cup outings and winger Denis Cheryshev also has three already this tournament.

As for Uraguay, while they have been far from convincing at times, The Blues have picked up two 1-0 wins on the bounce against Egypt and Saudi Arabia and have already secured their spot in the next round. Along with having arguably the most feared striking partnership at the tournament with Barcelona forward Luis Suarez playing alongside Ligue 1 top scorer Edinson Cavani, we expect The Blues to find the net against a Russia side who have not registered a single clean sheet in their last nine.
