Two sides who have continued to produce high-scoring encounters, San Jose will welcome Columbus to the Avaya Stadium in the early hours of Sunday.

Starting with the hosts, putting in another dominant display in their commanding 3-1 win over Colorado last time out, the mood in San Jose’s camp couldn’t be any higher. Now climbing as high as fourth in the Western Conference and handed the chance to leapfrog both LA Galaxy and Seattle the Earthquakes have secured back-to-back 3-1 victories and have not tasted defeat in any of their last five appearances. Despite not recording a clean sheet since the 7th of July, Head Coach Matías Almeyda will be growing more impressed by his sides’ form in the final third. Scoring six goals in just their last two outings, Sunday’s hosts have also scored three or more goals in three of their last four appearances.

As for the visitors, although a worrying start to the season may have had many in Ohio starting to panic, Columbus have begun to show some real improvements. Picking up a surprise 3-2 win away at the Red Bull Arena last weekend, the Yellow and Blacks have secured their own back-to-back victories and are unbeaten in any of their last three outings. While they may have scored two or more goals in each of their last three appearances, Columbus have failed to record a single clean sheet since the start of June. With six of the last eight matches between the two sides seeing both outfits find the net within 90 minutes, we’re backing another lively encounter at the Avaya Stadium this weekend.
