In what could be another lively encounter on Friday night, title challengers Borussia Mönchengladbach will make the trip to Schalke’s VELTINS-Arena looking to reclaim their spot at the top of the Bundesliga.

Starting with the hosts, while Schalke may have entered the festive break with back-to-back draws against Freiburg and Wolfsburg, former Huddersfield boss David Wagner has done a stellar job turning around the Blues. Despite only just extending their Bundesliga status last season, fans around the VELTINS-Arena will know that another victory on Friday would see them climb back into the top-four. On a run of form that has seen them lose just a single Bundesliga matchup since the 20th of October, Schalke have tasted defeat just once on home soil since opening the 2019/2020 campaign and there is no doubt that Wagner’s men will be confident of causing an upset on Friday.

As for the visitors, although Borussia Mönchengladbach’s form on the road is still leaving allot to the imagination, there is no doubt that Marco Rose’s men have been the surprise package this season. With three points on Friday seeing them once again leapfrog RB Leipzig to top spot, Die Fohlen have won six of their last nine Bundesliga matchups and have tasted defeat just once since the end of November. There is no doubt that Friday’s guests will also be boosted by their most recent meetings against the Blues. Including picking up a 2-0 win away at the VELTINS-Arena last season, Mönchengladbach have not lost a matchup against Schalke since October 2016.
