Desperate to get their season back on track, Werder Bremen will welcome Fortuna Dusseldorf to the Weserstadion on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Werder Bremen may have enjoyed a bright start to the new Bundesliga campaign and briefly flirted with the top-four, they have suffered a poor run of form entering the Christmas period. In their opening 13 league games, they have won five, drawn three and lost five, scoring 21 and conceding 22 in return. No team inside the top half of the table hold a worse defensive record than Werder Bremen. Holding a three point advantage over slipping out of the top half, their recent form has left a lot to the imagination. Werder have now failed to win any of their last four league matches, losing three of those outings. The hosts last six matches have seen both team to score at full-time.

As for the visitors, after returning to the Bundesliga this season, it has been the slow start that many had expected for Fortuna Dusseldorf, despite their recent turn of fortunes. In their opening 13 games, they have recorded just two wins, three draws and eight defeats, scoring 13 and conceding 29, they currently hold the worst defensive record in the division. With a points tally of nine, their goal difference sees them sat bottom the Bundesliga table. However, their have been some signs of life of late. Losing just one of their last four across all competitions, Dusseldof also picked up an impressive 3-3 draw against Bayern Munich a fortnight ago.
