With Sydney bragging rights on the line this weekend, runaway leaders Sydney FC will make the trip to the Bankwest Stadium on Sunday morning.
Starting with the hosts, putting in an eye-catching display and picking up a deserved point away at AFC Champions League contenders Melbourne City last weekend, Western Sydney are enjoying their brightest run of the season so far. Aside from a 3-1 defeat against a resurging Brisbane earlier in the month, that is their only defeat since the 19th of January. Also shocking many by picking up a 1-0 win over Saturday’s guests three weeks ago, caretaker boss Jean-Paul de Marigny also saw his side land a stunning 5-2 win over Adelaide in their last appearance at the Bankwest Stadium. With the mood in their camp appearing to be on the rise, there is no doubt that the Red and Blacks should be confident of causing another upset this weekend.
As for the visitors, while Sydney may have been disappointed to have only collected a point against Perth Glory last weekend, the Blues still hold a 10-point buffer at the top of the table and are marching towards their fifth A-League crown. While the Blues might be continuing to struggle in this year’s AFC Champions League, Graham Arnold’s men do hold a fearsome reputation for their performances away from the Netstrata Jubilee Stadium. Including a 4-1 romp away at Melbourne Victory in their last appearance on the road, the runaway A-League leaders have won each of their last four matchups on their travels and it should also be noted that Saturday’s guests have recorded 10 goals in their last three matchups on the road. In what could be a lively contest this weekend, we’re backing both teams to find the net on Saturday morning.
