Bournemouth remain in pole position to complete the signing of Sunderland forward Jermain Defoe, according to Sky Sports.
The thirty-four year old, who can leave the North East side on a free transfer following their relegation to the Championship, is currently focussing on England after being selected for only the second time in over four years.
However, once the double header against Scotland and France is out of the way, the race to secure his services is set to restart and the Cherries, who took the striker on loan in at the start of his career are first in line.
He played thirty-one times for the south coast club, scoring nineteen goals including a run of netting in ten consecutive appearances.
He scored fifteen times for Sunderland last season but was unable to help them retain their top flight status.
Defoe scored as England beat Lithuania back in March and is 4/1 to open the scoring against Scotland a week on Saturday.
