(GSM) – Kris Boyd is content with his decision to leave the Rangers and join Middlesbrough.
Boyd is the SPL’s all-time leading scorer with 164 goals. The Scotland striker had been linked with moves to Premier League sides Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers as well as Turkish club Kayserispor. But he decided to move to the Riverside instead.
“Rangers fans are going to say that but if you come and see the facilities here, it is a Premier League club playing in the Championship and I want to get them back there, but I would thank the Rangers fan for their support,” the 26-year-old forward told Sky Sports News.
“As I said they were brilliant for me and it is a chapter in my life that I need to move on from and I feel this time I can do that and at Middlesbrough I know I have got a chance, if I train well during the week, then you will play.
“I had four great years at Rangers and it is a short career and I felt I had to move on and I have signed with Middlesbrough and we have a challenge and one I need to move on to.”
The former Kilmarnock hitman defended his decision to move to Teesside.
“There was interest from clubs in Britain and abroad, but the most important thing for me was my family, I have two young kids and I needed to look after them.”
