Brandt in demand

Various German media outlets have been linking Bayer Levekusen’s Julian Brandt with a switch to Borussia Dortmund for a while now; in fact, ever since Dortmund confirmed the transfer of Christian Pulisic to Chelsea in January. The American has been loaned back to Dortmund for the rest of the season, but come summer, Stamford Bridge in London will be his new home.

Brandt was pursued by Liverpool a year and a half ago, but at the time he chose to stay at Leverkusen. Liverpool signed Mohamed Salah instead and never looked back. The revival of the interest from the Merseyside club is unlikely at this point and that may be good news for Dortmund.

However, magazine Kicker have now come out with claims that both Madrid giants, Real and Atletico, are interested in signing the 22 year old as well, and a three-way battle over his services is about to begin. Dortmund’s hope will be that the fact Brandt is more likely to earn a regular place in the team at the Signal Iduna Park than at either club in Madrid will hold the key in Brandt’s decision.
