Brazil are the third country to have advanced to the semi finals of the World Youth Championship. The South Americans beat Germany 2-1 after extra time to do so.

Germany were extremely close to winning the match themselves after a goal from Lewis Holtby in the 73rd minute.

But Brazil refused to give up at Cairo International Stadium and Maicon leveled the score with two minutes to go in regular time.

In extra time, the Brazilians needed less than a minute for Maicon to add another and set the score to 2-1. A dumb-founded Germany lacked the energy to find a reply.

In the semi final, which will be played on Tuesday, Brazil face the winner of the match between the UAE and Costa Rica. The other semi final has Ghana meet with Hungary.
