Sao Paolo gained a two-point buffer atop the Brazil Serie A table with a 1-0 win at Atletico Mineiro on Wednesday.
Casimiro scored the lone goal in the 21st minute at the Estadio Joaquim Henrique Nogueira, sending Sao Paulo two points clear of Corinthians and Palmeiras.
The Brazil under-20 international collected a pass from fellow midfielder Wellington at the top of the box and rifled a shot past Atletico goalkeeper Renan Ribeiro into the bottom-right corner.
Sao Paulo captain Rogerio Ceni celebrated his 100th consecutive game by keeping Atletico to their first clean sheet of the season.
Atletico fall to fourth on the table with six points from three games.
