The father of Inter forward Diego Forlan has revealed that a number of Brazilian clubs have expressed interest in his son.
The Uruguayan joined Inter from Atletico Madrid last summer, but he has failed to properly settle at San Siro.
The experienced forward is slowly becoming a bit-part player at Giuseppe Meazza and he is pondering a return to South America.
The player’s father confirms no less than four Brazilian clubs are readying bids for the highly rated striker.
“The clubs tracking my son are Sao Paulo, Corinthians, Gremio and right now Atletico Mineiro have also joined in,” Pablo Forlan told Lancenet.
“Diego would have no problems adapting to Brazilian football, but he has a contract until July 2013 with Inter and has always respected deals with his clubs.”
Pablo Forlan explains that Diego is not happy with his status at Giuseppe Meazza.
“The Nerazzurri are making him play in a new position and, considering this moment in his career, it is difficult to adapt.”
Diego Forlan was expected to establish a fruitful attacking partnership with Diego Milito, but the two players largely struggled for form at the start to the season and never really showed they can play successfully alongside one another.
As a result, the Uruguayan started being used as Milito’s back-up and went on to score just 2 goals in 18 Serie A games this term.
