Sao Paulo FC are very close to winning this year’s Brazilian Serie A title. The Paulistas beat Vasco da Gama 1-2 while only remaining rivals Gremio crashed 4-2 at Vitoria Salvador.

Jorge Wagner put Sao Paulo ahead on 22 minutes but had his goal cancelled out by Madson on the half hour mark.

But Sao Paulo secured the win thanks to a goal from Hugo in the fourth minute after the break.

Gremio had a 0-1 lead at half time thanks to a 26th-minute goal from Andre Luis but Vitoria were by far the better side after the interval.

Leandro Domingues, Willians Santana, Jackson and Marcelo Cordeiro helped the home side to a very comfortable 4-1 lead and only Souza managed to do something back in added time, 4-2.

Gremio’s Amaral was sent off with a second yellow card on the hour.

As a result, the gap between Sao Paulo and Gremio now stands at five points with just two matches to go.
