(GSM) – Werder Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs has revealed that the Bundesliga giants are yet to receive any formal bids for star winger Mesut Oezil.

The 21-year-old, who has made a number of eye-catching performances for the national side in the World Cup, is believed to be on the radar of a number of European heavyweights, including Barcelona, Manchester United and Arsenal.

But Allofs claims there have been no official approaches for Gelsenkirchen born player, and insists that Ozil is key to the club’s hopes of reaching the Champions League proper, having qualified for the play-off round after a third-place Bundesliga finish last season.

“Now he is playing a fantastic World Cup campaign, there is definitely increasing interest,” Allofs told Bild. “But when it comes down to concrete bids, nothing has been done. We want him to stay on and actually there is no news.

“There are no indications he does not want to see out his contract at our club. We need to have success on the field, especially in Champions League qualification. For this we need to have a good team.”
