(GSM) – Werder Bremen midfielder Mesut Özil is likely to receive heavy attention in the transfer market this summer, according to general manager Klaus Allofs. The club maintains that they are willing to listen to the player’s wishes if a good offer comes in.

The 21-year-old’s performances at the World Cup have earned him attention from top clubs. And according to reports, Real Madrid and Manchester United are among the clubs interested in the Germany international.

Özil has just one year left to run on his current contract and Bremen may be ready to cash in on their prized asset in order to avoid letting him go for free next summer.

“I can already think that we will have offers in the next few weeks or just before the transfer deadline from a number of clubs,” Allofs said.

“If something concrete comes, we have a duty to talk to Mesut and his advisors and to see what they want. We will not change our policy. We cannot afford it.”
