Competition: Scottish Premiership
Market: Brendan Rodgers to be next Celtic manager
Odds: 1/3 @ Coral
Former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is reportedly in talks with Celtic with a view to becoming their next manager following the departure of Ronny Deila. Rodgers has been out of work since October, replaced by Jurgen Klopp, but could be making a return to club management for 2016/17.
Rodgers isn’t the only manager on Celtic’s shortlist, however. The perennial champions have also been linked with Neil Lennon, Roy Keane, David Moyes, Paul Lambert and Michael O’Neill among many others, but Rodgers heads the list. Despite his sacking from Liverpool, the 43-year-old does have a respectable CV, and could certainly keep Celtic winning major honours.
The response from the supporters would certainly be positive given Rodgers’ reputation in the game, but he would be joining at a potentially difficult time with Celtic being inconsistent this season, while fierce rivals Rangers return to the top flight.
As a result, Rodgers is sure to be challenged more than his predecessor was, but he certainly has the nous to deliver. Coral are giving odds of 1/3 for Brendan Rodgers to become the next Celtic manager for next season.
