Brentford 10/11 to beat Derby in Tuesday’s Championship contest

Competition: Championship

Market: Brentford win

Odds: 10/11 @ 888sport

With a chance to potentially climb back into the automatic spots in midweek, Brentford will make the trip to an empty Pride Park on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Derby might have enjoyed an immediate boost after appointing Wayne Rooney on a full-time basis earlier in the year, The Rams are in the midst of an extended blip. With many in their camp still nervously looking over their shoulder at the drop zone, the former England skipper saw his side put in another sluggish display over the weekend. Eventually hit with a 1-0 defeat against Millwall on home soil, Derby are without a win in any of their last five Championship matchups. Facing a stern test when the promotion contenders come to town in midweek, The Whites have gained a reputation for their recent issues in the final third. Along with mustering just a single point from their last four second-tier matchups, it should also be noted that Derby have managed to bag just a single goal in over 360 minutes of action.

As for the visitors, after managing to make an immediate return to winning ways after that 1-0 loss against Norwich earlier in the month, Brentford will be desperate to keep up that momentum in midweek. Knowing that three points at Pride Park could skyrocket their way back into the top-two, The Bees managed to pick up a victory away at Blackburn over the weekend. Still tipped as one of the leading contenders in the promotion chase, Head Coach Thomas Frank has seen his side win three of their last four Championship contests. Smelling a golden chance to make it back-to-back wins on Tuesday night, it is well worth keeping an eye out for the free-scoring Ivan Toney. Bagging the winner away at Ewood Park over the weekend, the former Peterborough ace has now racked up 10 goals in as many appearances.
