Brentford 7/10 to beat Reading in Tuesday’s Championship showdown

Competition: Championship

Market: Brentford win

Odds: 7/10 @ Bet 365

Looking to build off of what was a stunning result over the weekend, Brentford will make the trip to an empty Madejski Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Starting with the hosts, hit with a 2-1 defeat away at Derby over the weekend, Reading find themselves almost stuck in Championship limbo. Destined to secure a spot in the bottom-half of the table once again this year, the Royals have continued to struggle with their performances on home soil. Including what some branded a season-worst display in a 3-0 drumming against Wigan prior to the enforced break, Mark Bowen’s men have managed to land just a sole Championship win at the Madejski since Boxing Day and have collected just six points out of a possible 21 over their last seven contests on home soil. Holding the fourth-worst home record of any side in the division and hit with a 1-0 defeat when they faced off against the Bees earlier in the season, Reading could be in for another tough test in midweek.

As for the visitors, picking up what was a stunning 1-0 win against title challengers West Brom in West London over the weekend, the mood around Griffin Park continues to soar. Now sat in pole position to secure at least a play-off spot this season, Thomas Frank’s high-flyers have collected three Championship wins on the bounce and are still hoping to make a late charge for the top-two. Along with watching leading marksman Ollie Watkins extend on his tally on Friday night, Frank will be most impressed by his side’s most recent performances at the other end of the pitch. Recording yet another clean sheet against the Baggies last time out, Tuesday’s guests have recorded three second-tier clean sheets on the bounce, their best defensive tally of the season so far. Landing a 2-0 win over bitter rivals Fulham in their last contest on the road, Brentford should see their trip to the Madejski as a golden chance to extend on their recent purple patch.
