(GSM) – Olympique Lyon are set to complete the signing of Stade Rennes striker Jimmy Briand, according to the club president Jean-Michel Aulas.

Briand, who has been constantly linked with a move away from Rennes, seems to be heading for Stade Gerland as Lyon look to have won the race for his signature.

The 24-year-old will help fill the void left by Sidney Govou’s departure after seeing out his contract at the club.

Lyon president Aulas claims Briand will sign next week once he undergoes a medical.

“We can say without reservation that Jimmy Briand is coming to Lyon on June 15 to pass the medical examination,” said Aulas.

“We have already reached agreement with him. There are just some details to sort with Rennes.

“We have wanted to sign him for four years.”
