Brighton and Hove Albion want to sign Mats Hummels

Brighton and Hove Albion are interested in signing Mats Hummels in the summer transfer window, according to The Times. Hummels is a free agent at the moment after leaving German club Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season, and Premier League side Brighton are keen on snapping up the defender.

Hummels has been one of the best defenders in the world over the years and has done well for Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. The 35-year-old Germany international central defender helped Dortmund reach the final of the UEFA Champions League last season. He scored three goals in 20 starts and five substitute appearances in the Bundesliga and scored one goal and provided one assist in 13 UEFA Champions League games for Dortmund last season.

Brighton finished 11th in the Premier League table last season, while Dortmund ended up fifth in the Bundesliga standings. The German club will be aiming to wi the title next season.
