French daily newspaper L’Equipe claims that Premier League outfit Brighton & Howe Albion have emerged as favourites to sign Nantes youngster Batista Mendy.
The 18-year-old is yet another talented French footballer who has opted against signing a long-term deal with his current employers and a summer exit now looks on the cards.
Even though some bigger clubs have also expressed interest in his services, Mendy is reportedly leaning towards accepting an offer from Brighton.
The youngster clearly believes joining a low-profile club will give him a better chance of regular exposure to first team football, and the Seagulls look set to complete the deal for the France Under-17 international.
Mendy represented les Bleus at the Under-17 World Cup in India last year, but he has yet to make his senior debut for Nantes.
